Jorge E. Gatica was born
and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
He taught 60-70 Mayan Indian children
first grade in Salcaja, Guatemala for
three years before moving to Pennsylvania
in 1976. Jorge worked for Grove City
Area School District in Grove City,
Pa for 23 years in the areas of custodial/maintenance
care. He served five summers with World
Servants as a "Holy Sweat"
for American groups coming to Reynosa,
México. Jorge was also in charge
of the maintenance and construction
of Piedra Angular in Reynosa, for one
and a half years.
Marilyn was born and
raised in Grove City, PA. She has a
Master's Equivalency Degree in Elementary
Education from Slippery Rock State University.
She served four years teaching missionary
and Guatemalan children at the Inter-American
School in Quezaltenango, Guatemala.
She taught 21 years with Grove City
Area School District. Marilyn is an
ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
She has spent six summers teaching Women's
Bible Study in Reynosa, México
with World Servants. She has also served
as Director of Ministries for Vámonos
Community Ministries for one and a half
years.
