Memorial All-Purpose Building ProjectBack in 2006 Lifting Burdens decided to build an "all-purpose" building which will serve as storage as well as house a small computer and sewing lab. We hope to be able to bring the older students from the school in Nueva Amanecer for computer classes during the summer. We would also like to open it up to children of local pastors and Christian friends who do not have access to computers in their homes. Throughout the year we would like to offer Women's Bible Study and teach the women how to sew simple projects from time to time. We will also have space to store our arts and craft supplies and other items shipped from churches north of the border for our use and distribution.

The project began with the Summer Mission groups of East Main, Fairfield and Millageville Presbyterian
Churches from PA in 2006.

Caliche was hauled in little by little. Jorge finished laying the foundation after the groups left.

Then, in March 2008, a group from a Baptist Church in Sunnyview, a suburb of Dallas, TX moved the mountain
of caliche and stomped it down tight.

High winds helped some, but for the most part, these youth did the work.

At the end of the day all was flat and ready to be formed up for cement. Jorge spent the next day putting
the wood frames around the foundation and getting things ready for the cement.

The next day, a youth group from Benbrook, TX came in and mixed and poured the cement platform.

"Line up and rev your engines." The cement mixer kept 4 wheelbarrows busy.

Kids from Big Heart Children's Home helped the group as well.
A cement truck knew we were pouring cement so he came by to see if we would buy his last 1/2 meter for $20.00.
We did-which gave our sand and gravel people a short break but not our wheelbarrow guys.
Thank you, Big Heart, Sunnyview and Benbrook Baptist!
Pastor Salvador puts the finishing touches on the floor. Now we are ready for the next stage as time and money permit.
